Following a call from Creative Torbay for Devon based artists to enter a 'Design a Deckchair' competition, Sarah's photograph was one of only 13 designs to be selected. The deckchairs were initially on display at Torre Abbey, Torquay for the official opening of the Antony Gormley exhibition 'Field for the British Isles', and then transferred to Princess Gardens in Torquay, where they were for hire to the public for the rest of the summer. Anna Whitehead, Torbay Council's Arts Development Officer said ''We had a fantastic response to the competition...the deckchairs really do look wonderful...they will be enjoyed by lots of people over the summer.''
Sarah's image is a photograph of natural 'sea foam' washed up on the beach at Westward Ho! These colourful bubbles are not detergent or oil pollution, but the product of microscopic phytoplankton and the agitation of the surf. ''It is exciting to see my work displayed in this fun and unusual way – the deckchairs create an alfresco exhibition of functional art''
